Ronice Goss

Ronice is a lovely smiley evangelist of Fibre. She is a stickler for technique and demands perfection with every rep. You will know also when the wod starts to get to her as she is not shy of being vocal. Let’s learn a little more about her.

Can you tell us a bit more about yourself and what you do?
My occupation is Ticketing Manager for Mellen Events – a music and events promotions company. We do events such as Future Music Festival and An Evening on the Green concerts in Kings Park as well as various other indoor and outdoor shows. I have been here since Dec 2011 in different
capacities and Ticketing Manager since Aug 2013.
I have only lived in Perth since May 2011, previously living all my life in rural WA.
I have 2 boys – Benjamin (16) and Matthew (14) and a Devon Rex cat called Rexy … Lol
I am a qualified Personal Trainer but do not work in the industry. One of the coaches through my PT course in 2011 was our illustrious leader and this was where I first met Bjorn and also where he first introduced me to the wonderful world of Crossfit.

Who and what inspires you?
No one person inspires me – I find inspiration all around me.
I am in awe of people who accomplish and strive to be the best they can be – especially those fighting their own battles of sickness, disease, depression, poor health, obesity, disabilities and the many many other hurdles and hardships we often face in everyday life.
They are the true champions and often find joy in what others may consider small achievements.
To them – they are monumental and rightly so. I always try to remember how lucky I am to enjoy good health and to have a capable healthy body.
Many others are not so fortunate – yet still manage to celebrate their own successes.
My favourite saying that I live by: “Where the mind can go – the body will follow”
Can you cook and what are your favourite dishes?
No – can’t cook – don’t like it – don’t have any desire to learn.
Hate food shopping, preparing it and the mess etc etc.
Such alot or work for such a short period of time enjoying the creation.
However I’m very pleased that other people (not mentioning names Jess!!) do enjoy so that I can get to have a little slice of heaven every now and then that I haven’t had to prepare!!! Hahaha
Not a dish – but I have a soft spot for good quality white chocolate!!!! YUM!

How would you describe your ideal day?
Waving a magic wand and having just the right amount of time in every day to enjoy the following at my leisure with no work or time constraints:
1. Sleep in
2. Healthy Brekky (Prepared by my
own private chef of course – as you know that I hate cooking!! After all – this is my perfect make believe day)
3. Complete my entire Crossfit workout properly and in its entirety (inc Warm up, mobility, strength work, WOD, working on my weaknesses and progression work and a proper cool down)
4. Post workout meal
5. Rest/Sleep
6. Massage or beauty treatment
7. Shopping
8. Healthy dinner
9. Movie, concert or show
10. Bath/hair treatment/facial
11. Sleep

What has CrossFit done for you?
Crossfit has given me the opportunity to train in an environment that I feel challenges me yet suits me perfectly.
I feel happy and proud to say I’m involved with Crossfit and it gives me so much more than just working out.
It makes me feel fit, strong and healthy and that if I set my mind to it – that I can achieve and accomplish anything.
It has also given me the opportunity to meet, interact, get to know and work out alongside like minded people. That’s a blessing.

What is your favourite WOD?
I don’t have a favourite WOD as such. I enjoy more of the ground work.
Working on my technique, strength and progressions towards the long list of lifts and exercises that challenge me and I have not yet mastered.

Burpees or Chin Ups?
Either/or…… I don’t mind.
Burpees are THE best whole body workout and an excellent cardio workout.
To me chins are about strength and technique – and I want to conquer them both – so whatever Coach programs on any given day – burpees or chins – I’m happy to tackle them the best I can.

What do you like most about CrossFit Fibre?
There is nothing that I don’t like but most of all – that I feel comfortable and at home there.

If You were to design a WOD for the coach, what would it be?
An EMOM of squat cleans and deadlifts.
I would have to give the specifics some thought…. But my reasoning behind this is prior conversations that he and I have had about building strength and the overall strength gains from both of these lifts.
