Peter “The Flash” Devlin is just so hard to catch when it comes to a run. He currently (as of July 2015) holds first spot in the 5km run time trial with an impressive time of 20mins25sec and top spot at max double unders. Pete continues to be a force to be reckoned with, always up to a challenge whether it is a triathlon, game of volleyball or bikram yoga. Pete, we absolutely love having you at Fibre.

Can you tell us a bit more about yourself and what you do?
I moved over here to Perth at the start of the year to work as a Radiation Therapist at Sir Charles Gardner Hospital. I am currently working using the Cyberknife machine there, which is the only one of its kind in Australia. It uses a robotic arm to deliver high doses of radiation to treat different types of cancers with sub-millimetre accuracy. Outside of work most people at the box know I love to run, I did a marathon up on the Gold Coast a few years ago and used to do a few triathlons. I have also started playing beach volleyball which is pretty fun and will be great down at the beach come summertime.

Who and what inspires you?
Crossfit wise everyone at the box inspires me. Having met most people in the box when they have first started it is awesome to see the progress everyone is making and makes me want to push myself. And Rich Froning jr of course, that guy is a freak. Outside of Crossfit my friends and family inspire me. I have been fortunate to meet a lot of people that have done some very impressive things in an effort to make improve the lives of others.

Can you cook and what are your favourite dishes?
I don’t mind doing some cooking, I mostly keep it pretty simple with salads with some sort of pretty simple with salads with some sort of protein. My favourite meal to make at the moment is a salad containing baby kale, Apple, red onion, walnuts and pancetta with a dressing made of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and maple syrup.

How would you describe your ideal day?
I would start the day with a run or come into the box for a workout followed by a coffee and some bacon and eggs for breakfast. I would then head down to beach and finish off the day going out to dinner and then catching some sort of live music.

What has CrossFit done for you?
Crossfit has completely changed my body type, I have transformed from a skinny triathlete into someone who can now not only string some pull ups together but also do muscle ups, squat over a 100kgs and still be able to comfortably do my 10km runs. It’s also a great way for me to push my limits and also test my patience.

What is your favourite WOD?
My favourite Wod would have to be Grace. I love the feeling of lifting and dropping some heavy weight.

Burpees or Chin Ups?
I would have to go chin ups, I know burpees are a great work out but if you aren’t feeling 100% I am pretty sure they are a form of torture.

What do you like most about CrossFit Fibre?
I love the community we have at Crossfit Fibre, everyone is very encouraging and we are at a good size where everybody knows each other.

If You were to design a WOD for the coach, what would it be?
I think that’s there’s enough workouts out there I don’t really need to design one for coach, I think he would really enjoy doing
