Mark is our resident cheeky monkey. Do not let his kidney punches and middle fingers offend you because he will give no effs at all. He is the warmest person you will meet and the resident Gandalf when it comes to raw foods.

Can you tell us a bit more about yourself and what you do?
Lived in WA since end of 1994, arriving with a backpack and handful of dreams from NZ where I spent most younger years. Spent the first 6 years living and working in Kalgoorlie, desert dreaming and mining.

I spent most of my youth as a musician, drumming my way along in bands and then ironically turned to Jazz while living in Kalgoorlie. Moved to Perth in 2001 and found my new ‘home’. I have mostly worked for the Department for Child Protection since living in Perth, working with youth and families. My current role is Program Coordinator for the Volunteer Mentor Program. Along the way I DJed and studied Drums and Jazz at WAAPA though kept moving forward in my work with children and families. I have toured with Jose Padilla and DJed for the past 3 Red Bull Air Races in Perth. Held residences at Anduluz and the Generous Squire and other small bars now gone.
Kim and I have a small business with Raw healthy foods called The Little Shop of Plenty that we will look forward to growing and helping people to be healthier over the coming years…you look bored, that is enough about me.

Who and/or what inspire you?
A big question not easily answered. Mum was an amazing person, hard working, resilient and loving…I believe she installed the right balance of personality and humour in me. I think my main inspiration these days comes from within. Being better and improving at everything I do, bit by bit, chipping away at the elements that hold me back and dusting myself off each morning to face it all again, and make a better job of it…

Can you cook and what are your favourite dishes?
I love spicy and tasty food! I can cook some great traditional Mexican food and a good dahl though am certainly no expert. These days it is all about simplifying, finding fresh and wholesome ingredients, throwing it all together and letting magic happen.

How would you describe your ideal day?
Everyday is ideal… just make the most of it… the fun is in not knowing what is coming…

What has CrossFit done for you?
Allowed me to be excited about fitness again… simple as bro!

What is your favourite WOD?
None is favourite…all are rewarding

Burpees or Chin Ups?
I like the burpee-chin up…

What do you like most about CrossFit Fibre?
The family that is growing. Bjorn is the quiet achiever, thoughtful and intelligent in his programming and coaching. I love the space.

If You were to design a WOD for the coach, what would it be?
Nothing I could ever think of would beat 1000 burpees for time….inspiring.
