Definition

A fibre is originally a French word that means rope or string and is a component of composite materials. Our Fibre is what we are made of. Everything stems from the foundation. The evolution of what we are doing and living will dictate our end point.

CrossFit Fibre is a box that specialises in constantly varied, functional movements performed at high intensity. We are all about results; results that come with proper training and execution. A world-class strength and conditioning gym that utilises the concepts of heavy loads over long distances in moderately short time.

Our goal is to strengthen you from within, change your being and your life. Provide you with copious amounts of moral and technical support. Be part of our community of like minded individuals. Our goal is to make you want, believe and do with every Fibre of your being.

Bjorn (Bjornacles) Voon

Head Coach And Owner

Bjorn’s love for training people and turning them into athletes has been a lifelong dream and journey. After completing UWA he went into business at a Globo gym, then trained in boutique personal training gym and then honed and taught Pilates for a couple of years. Bjorn was also a coach to Personal Trainers at the institute of Fitness where he got the name Bjornacles and then shortly after, he went FIFO to train the miners in Port Hedland. Alas he was would never be satisfied and fulfilled until he had his own box.

Having realised that CrossFit was essentially a similar method he adopted together with dreams of a machine-less gym, it became very clear to him that someday he would be deeply involved in CrossFit, once known as the cult of fitness that has enveloped the fitness world.

Aside from the quirky habits, sudden outbursts of insanity and alleged dry humour, Bjorn’s blunt honesty and passion will infect you with the passion to keep on training, learning and wanting more.

Jessica Chu-Voon

Manager, Head Coach CrossFit Kids

Working out in Globo gym on and off for 8 years, Jess was not sold on the idea of CrossFit until she gave it a go. Once she understood the variety of the program and having the competitive streak, she was hooked on it immediately and has since grown from strength to strength.

Jess’ career in corporate accounting means she takes cares of the figures of the business and manages the memberships of CrossFit Fibre. Jess also loves coaching the Beginner class on Thursday evenings and is also our CrossFit Kids coach. Working with children and instilling the love for fitness and camaraderie is something she is passionate about. She loves the interaction with the members and enjoys organising events for Fibrefam.

Jess has always been the active type. In Mauritius where she grew up, Jess has represented her high school in volleyball and table tennis. In Perth, she played beach volleyball and won a silver medal with her team in 2013. She completed her first triathlon in 2014 and had also practised Reformer Pilates religiously for two years before CrossFit. CrossFit has provided her with the variety and goals, she needed to keep motivated and interested.

Jess is warm, bubbly and encouraging. Her hobbies include cooking and baking, eating, beach time, outdoor activities and spending time with her two pooches Lilo and Nina.

Jess is the Head Trainer for CrossFit Kids classes at CrossFit Fibre.

Peter Devlin

Coach

Pete has a strong background in running.
Having completed the Gold Coast marathon a few years ago and on the back of doing numerous triathlons, he decided to try something new.
Trying out CrossFit with a few friends presented a whole new challenge and he has been in love with it since his first workout.
Pete is our “Gazelle” or “the Flash” in the box, always the one to beat on any workout involving a bit of running.
He has been doing CrossFit for over 4 years and is passionate about getting people moving faster and more efficiently.

Outside of the box Pete works at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital as a Radiation Therapist and is attempting to play footy.

Kade Pound

Gymnastics Coach

Kade started gymnastics in 2011 and progressively added more hours and more body weight training. In 2014, he started Olympic lifting which lead to his first CrossFit comp in November 2014 which was The Three vs Three Showdown which his team managed to win the Beginner category. Kade competed in his first individual Rx comp in October 2015 where he placed middle of the field and his best event finish was third place.

What Kade likes most about coaching is that he gets to apply what he has learnt from his experience so far and with his current studies at University, can help athletes improve and achieve their goals. Kade likes CrossFit Fibre because it is a fun environment and has a tight community where everyone is enthusiastic about learning and improving.
